Rebuilding a Regional Ecommerce Storefront
Demo Client — Retail Co. · Ecommerce
A legacy storefront was losing checkout conversions on mobile; we rebuilt the front end and simplified checkout.
The Challenge
The existing store ran on a heavily customized theme that broke on smaller screens and took over eight seconds to reach interactive on mobile networks. Cart abandonment during checkout was significantly higher on mobile than desktop.
Our Strategy
We audited the checkout funnel, identified the specific steps causing drop-off, and prioritized a rebuild of the product and checkout templates before touching anything else on the site.
The Solution
A new mobile-first storefront was built with a three-step checkout, lazy-loaded product imagery, and server-side cart validation to remove redundant round trips.
Implementation
The rebuild shipped in phased releases behind a feature flag, tested against a slice of live traffic before full rollout.
Outcomes from this project
“The new checkout flow made an immediate difference in how many mobile visitors actually completed a purchase.”
